2008 ALMS Long Beach Grand Prix Aston Martin V-8 Vantage
Here is some video of the Drayson-Barwell Aston Martin V-8 Vantage at the 2008 ALMS Long Beach Grand Prix. I had the honor of meeting drivers Lord Paul Drayson and Jonny Cocker… both fine gentlemen, indeed. They were very gracious and friendly to me, as I was the only person checking out their pit box at 7:30am on Saturday April 19, 2008. I got a special edition Aston Martin V-8 Vantage photograph, autographed by both Jonny and Paul. We all had a good laugh, as they wrote some friendly …
I see we have the same taste in fine automobiles… I was so bummed that Aston Martin and Audi were not at the 2009 Long Beach Grand Prix. They were definitely missed!
Dude…Im jealous as hell:Dmy favourite car…and this has a beautiful sound like the street version has….thanks for posting this:)
2008 and back lol
Except for the 2009 season where the Drayson-Barwell team had a number of engine failures. I don’t think anyone else in the field had the same amount of engine failures they had.
Aston Martin make the best quality monster anyone can find
Thanks johnlikesboobs… I like boobs too! Have you ever heard the song, “Do You Like Boobs A Lot” on the old Dr. Dimento Show? It was one of my favorite songs!
007 was a nice touch lol i didnt notice that before
I agree 100%. Thanks for your comment!
best sound on earth, also best looking car.
Hey, thanks for the kind words and comments.
Fantastic, love the graphics on the car.
Yea.. I would have to say it may be a combination of less experienced drivers and a car that needs some improvement… But, I do LOVE those Aston Martins! And, Paul and Johnny were great gentlemen.
Lol I saw this car at Road America and despite the fact that it sounded awesome, it was ungodly slow
what happened to the homolagated cars?
really great video! Aston Martin always makes great race cars. Will miss the V12 DBR9, but the grueling V8 of that V8 Vantage GT2 is absolutley astounding. keep the great vids coming!
Awesome!
150,000 british pounds is 287,700 USD.. haha.. not 8 million. great video though.
so did the aston finish 3rd over all, thats what was indicated for all but the first racing shots
I got a chance to talk to both teams at the LBGP race, and both teams were very complimentary of each other. They all enjoy some good competition… and both marques are up to the task.
I must admit, even though I am a huge AM fan, I highly respect the ‘Vette boys! Johnny, Ron, Jan and Oliver are great guys!
i love Corvette Radcing and Aston Martin Racing. Such good teams, and at the end of the day, they are all buds. Gotta love it.
I just read in Auto Sport Magazine that Aston Martin is coming out with the Vantage RS. It is a V12, and has lots of power-to-weight ratio. The car is a one-off right now, but Dave Richards says they will build a couple of hundred a year for two to three years. Price: around 150,000 British Pounds… that’s about 8 million US Dollars, as the Dollar keeps falling in value!
Thanks for your great comment!
Excellent video! Great opportunity you had there. I’m loving the “watch in high quality” too.
What a beautiful blend of art and technology. It’s a shame Aston has lost its roots, though. Ford, and now some Kuwaiti company… kind of makes me sad.
I remember reading about the Vanquish (cover photo was in British racing green… mmm…) in Car and Driver, and they were pointing out obviously cheap Ford parts and plastic interior trim… I still drooled over it, though!
Thanks D…. I, like you, can only dream of owning a car like this…. Keep up the great music bro…
that is my dream car
2:58-3:05..awesome!!!!!!
great end shot too
I was really impressed with Jonny. He’s a young, talented driver… and mature beyond his age when it comes to being a professional in such a competitive sport. He’s got quite a quick wit too! I’ll be rooting for him and Paul all year. Go Drayson-Barwell Aston Martin!!!
